Always tempting to go to the 1974 show today (which I will listen to at some point today), but this show and run at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin is outstanding and deserves recognition for featuring some of the best performances of a number of tunes and maybe one of their last "great" three night stands. I can't think of a better first set of the 86-90 Mydland era and a pretty damn strong second set. This is some of the finest late era playing you'll hear from Jerry, the band sounds bright and very professional and the video is out there as the Downhill From Here release, Deal >>> http://tinyurl.com/lolfbrp

Hell in a Bucket and Sugaree are spot on, there really is no better West LA Fadeaway, Althea is outstanding, Deal is as good as it gets, all the material in the first set is tight and very well played. In the second set, very solid Box of Rain opens, nice Hoolish Fart follows, although I'm not a big fan of this tune, everything is tight, Looks Like Rain and Terrapin are well played, MIDI heavy Other One is a bit boring, but does have moments of nice intensity, Wheel leads into a triumphant Morning Dew that rocks the set closed with some emotional Garcia singing, fiery middle solo and plenty of fanning to go around...Bob Weird drags out Lovelight to serve as the encore.

check out all three nights 7/17 and 7/18.
